Muhlenberg County Music Museum in Central City

From the Annual International Thumbpickers Contest (a tribute to Muhlenberg’s own Travis picking style) to the incredible achievement of world-renowned flutist Jim Walker, the museum tells the story of the area’s profound impact on music history. Visitors can also explore exhibits that celebrate the legacies of the Everly Brothers and John Prine, diving deep into the music that has made Muhlenberg County famous.

As part of the Kentucky Music Trail, the Muhlenberg Music Museum invites fans to experience the sounds, stories, and spirit of a place that has shaped the course of American music. This stop is essential for anyone exploring Kentucky’s deep musical heritage.
