Bradley Kincaid Home – Kentucky Mountain Boy – Historic Marker
Nestled in the rolling hills of Garrard County lies a tribute to one of Kentucky’s most beloved folk singers, Bradley Kincaid—the “Kentucky Mountain Boy.” Born in the Point Leavell community in 1895, Kincaid’s deep connection to his Appalachian roots shaped a lifetime dedicated to preserving and performing the ballads and folk songs that define the heart of Kentucky’s musical heritage.
About This Venue
Though Kincaid’s journey took him far beyond the Bluegrass State—from the bustling radio stations of Chicago to the stages of Nashville—he never lost touch with the music that shaped his childhood. Over the course of his career, he recorded more than 200 songs, published 13 songbooks, and earned a spot in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. His contributions brought the traditional ballads of the Southern mountains to the forefront of American music.
Today, this historical marker stands as a reminder of Kincaid’s lasting legacy—a storyteller who traveled the nation but carried Kentucky’s music with him wherever he went. It’s a stop on the Kentucky Music Trail where fans of folk and country music can reflect on the timeless tales of pride, courage, and loyalty woven through his songs. Though he spent much of his life elsewhere, Kincaid’s heart never strayed far from the hollers of Kentucky, a place he was always proud to call home.
